I thank you God for most this amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue true dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.
~~e. e. cummings
Just a few of the things right outside my door that I thank God for:

The way the chipping sparrow throws its head back when it sings,

The swallowtail alight on the lilacs,

Pussywillows,

The exuberance of the mockingbird who sings in the dead of night,

The Great Crested Flycatcher who’s nested again in our ramshackle birdhouse,
Our neighbor’s wildflower meadow,

And toads. I especially thank you, God, for toads.
(A belated Happy Birthday to my beloved son Benjamin, whom I also especially thank God for. He’s not a teenager any more!)

All these pictures are just amazing! I love the toads! They are my favorites. Happy Birthday to your son. I feel I have so much to be thankful for, too. All we have to do is just look around us. God paints such a beautiful picture for us.

Yes indeed! This post is testament to both the glory of God and your talent as a photographer; you can even take a stunning portrait of a warty toad! The chipping sparrow photo is marvelous and makes me want to throw back my head and sing too! I love you and can’t wait to see you.

The toads are lovable! Wonderful photos, wonderful world, and as Jacob said “Surely the Lord is in this place and I did not know.” Oh, and thank you, God, for ee cummings. And Beth.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
GREAT toad photos (and the rest, too, but especially the toads). I can just imagine you down in the grass to get that toad’s eye view!

It has rained every day for the last 10 days! 8″ so far in my rain gauge – we desperately needed rain and now we have it. I thank God for that. Mushrooms are pushing up everywhere, the bees are busy gathering nectar, and the birds are huddled down, taking shelter from the rain and lightning. We have Great Crested Flycatchers down here also, but I’ve never seen one of their nests. And, of course, mockingbirds. Since the great citrus canker scare and the destruction of so many citrus trees, our swallowtail population has plummeted, for citrus trees are the larval food of swallowtail butterflies down here. My favorite picture is the one of the gorgeous wildflowers – we don’t have any native plants that are so colorful. God does, indeed, work in mysterious ways!

Hi Beth, Happy Belated Birthday to Benjamin… He is growing up WAY too fast, isn’t he????
Love all of your pictures. That butterfly is gorgeous–and of course, so are the little birdies and the flowers —and LIFE… We all are thankful for so much!!!!
We got home this evening and had a wonderful couple of days in the North Carolina mountains.
Hugs,
Betsy
