your pictures are so evocative...and your description of this past summer (GO! And stay GONE...) perfect. My husband was born and raised in northern Maine, & he truly suffered through this gruesome summer, so much so that he bought a camper that we'll haul to Maine in the spring for our summers-to-come.

Since we still have family up there, it should be a good plan.

Now I need to get his new digital camera out, learn to download pictures (he shows me in rapid-fire order, impossible to follow along...I think it is called CONTROL!) &, as Fred First suggests, learn more about the names of plants and birds. After all, we'll have both SW Virginia species and far northern Maine species to explore.

The flower pictures are exquisite, but my favorite is the hiking trail from the knob, just a narrow path, obviously well worn. You captured the essence of summer perfectly, thanks for sharing with us!

I love your description of summer as a guest who overstayed their welcome. Well done! Great photos too. All are very good, but my favorite is the one of the coneflower. And oh yes, where did you see rain!!!???
